The 2022 Scouting for Food (SFF) service project is ramping up, and your unit’s participation and efforts are key to making this important service project successful. Scouting for Food is the nation’s largest single-day food drive and an opportunity for Scouts to make a significant impact in our community by helping local families. Last year we were able to provide more than 50,000 meals through Second Harvest Foodbank and our goal this year is to collect 500,000 pounds of food; this is roughly 35 items per registered Scout!
Please review the Unit Coverage map for the Colonial District, and email Kelli Chou ASAP with any coverage area changes. If you are a new unit, let Kelli know the area you would like to cover.
Important Dates:
— Today: Register your unit if you haven’t already: SFF 2022 Unit Registration Form
— October Roundtable on 10/20: SFF bags are back and will be provided to the units.
— Saturday 11/5: SFF bag distribution Saturday. Your unit distributes SFF bags to homes in your assigned area. Also consider asking your chartered organization, local businesses, apartment complexes, etc. if your unit could place a food collection box at their location.
— Saturday 11/12: SFF collection Saturday. Your unit completes pickup of food donations for assigned area and delivers donations at a district collection site. Be ready to report number of bags collected. District collection site locations will be at Second Harvest Food Bank and also in the plaza on the SE corner of Alafaya and Lake Underhill. Note: Volunteers will be needed at the collection sites, if you or your unit would like to volunteer.
Thank you for supporting Scouting for Food and your commitment to serving our youth and community. Please direct questions to our Colonial District Scouting for Food Co-Chairs, Kelli Chou and Jackie Juvinal by emailing ScoutAggie@gmail.com.

On May 1, the Central Florida Council switched to a new system to manage Unit Accounts. In the new system, units can electronically add or remove authorized users, view unit balance and transaction history, setup email notifications for low balance, and more! You will no longer need to submit paper updates every year!
Unit Committee Chairs received notification of changes last April and have been automatically designated as the controller for the Unit Account. CC’s have full authority in the account. If you are a Committee Chair and have not already set up users you would like to have access, please do so ASAP.

REGISTER to Participate in October RT ‘Meet the Troops’ Event
Scouts BSA Troops are invited to host a ‘Meet and Greet Table’ at October’s Round Table Meeting to share information about your unit with Webelos and AOL families who will soon be bridging to Scouts BSA. This event grew out of a desire from Webelos/AOL scouts nearing ‘crossover’ time to have a way to interact with a wider range of Scouts BSA troops in the area beyond their traditional feeder troop(s). Last year we held this event for the first time and had over 100 persons in attendance. October RT is on 10/20/22 at Centerpointe Church, setup starting at 6:30pm, with the open Meet and Greet starting around 7:15pm.
Please register your Scouts BSA Troop to host a table by emailing Mike Hockman at mikehockman1@gmail.com.

Colonial District Roundtable
Next Roundtable: Thursday October 20, 2022 at 7pm
We would like to invite you to the Colonial District Roundtable the 3rd Thursday of every month at Centre Point Community Church (9580 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL 32825). Doors open for gathering at 6:30pm, and opening flag is at 7pm. Roundtable is a great way for Scout leaders to share ideas, network and get information about our Council and District. Ideally, every unit in our Council should try to have at least one leader attend every month so that you can take what you learn to your Units!
The October Roundtable will feature a special Meet the Troops event for Webelos and AOL scouts and their families to connect with participating Scouts BSA troops in our district. Additionally, bags requested by units for the Scouting for Food service project will be available for pickup. And the Order of the Arrow will be hosting the OA Grill so you can eat dinner before the meeting (see menu and pre-order details in separate announcement below)!
Recharter leads from every unit are requested to attend a special breakout session on the Recharter Process during this month’s Roundtable; unit recharter packets will be distributed to unit representatives in attendance.
The feature topics of program breakout groups are below. Bring your ideas and questions!
Cub Scout Program Breakout: Welcoming New Families
Scouts BSA Program Breakout: Developing High Performing Youth Leaders
Looking ahead to next month…At the November Round Table (11/17/22), units will submit Recharter packets. There will also be program-specific breakout sessions planned for persons supporting the Cub Scout and Scouts BSA programs.
Thank you all for making our Colonial District Roundtable the most attended Roundtable in the Council!! Don’t forget bring a friend. If you have any announcements or messages you would like to present or convey please contact Mike Hockman, Roundtable Chair, mikehockman1@gmail.com

With a new Scouting Year come new training needs. School nights are beginning and hundreds of new scout leaders will join our ranks along with thousands of new scouts. Please pass the word to all parents and volunteers that our scouts deserve trained leaders. As unit leaders, imagine a pack, troop, crew, or ship with 100% trained leaders!
Online Training Opportunities. Here is how to get caught up with online training
• Take the online course for your registered position via https://my.scouting.org/. Remember that if you change positions, you need to register for the new role and take the training for that role to be considered “TRAINED.” Visit my.scouting.org for all your online training needs!
• Every leader must be Youth Protection trained. Don’t let it expire!
In-Person Training Opportunities. Trainings offered via online courses are also sometimes offered as in-person trainings. There are other courses (e.g., BALOO, IOLS, etc.) that are ONLY offered in-person. You may attend trainings hosted by Colonial District or any of the other Districts in the Central Florida Council. Some of the offerings are listed below. Visit the Council Training Calendar to see all the training opportunities available within our Council.
