Volunteers can register to assist with event setup\/breakdown, registration, range and target activities (bb, archery, sling shots), activity stations, and more. Whether you can help for a few hours or the entire event, your support will help create a fun and memorable experience for local Cub Scouts and their families. <\/p>\n

Scouting America has phased out YPT training and replaced it with <\/span><\/span>Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT)<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. All legacy YPT training expired on May 31, 2026. At this time, all leaders in the Scouting program must have current SYT training to participate as a leader in Scouting activities. So if your unit has leaders who have not yet taken SYT, they need to do so immediately to continue participation as a leader. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

One change with the new training is that SYT must be renewed annually. The refresher training only takes 20 minutes as long as you don’t let it lapse for more than a week. If you do let it lapse for more than a week, you must retake the full 90 minute training. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Also, all close contact leaders (Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Cub Master, Assistant Cub Master, Den Leaders, and Assistant Den Leaders) must take <\/span><\/span>Hazardous Weather Training<\/span><\/span><\/strong> every 2 years to be considered a \u2018trained leader\u2019. Units are required to have at least 1 registered adult leader at all outdoor activities with their hazardous weather training current. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To honor the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Scouting America is inviting Scouts and families to take part in the Scouting America 250 Challenge.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

From March 2026 through February 2027, Scouts across all programs can explore what citizenship, community, and freedom look like today. This limited-time challenge blends learning, creativity, service, and reflection, all leading up to July 4, 2026. Participants can also earn a special collectible Liberty in Action America 250 Challenge patch created just for this historic milestone. <\/span><\/span>See challenge patch requirements here.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

All adult leaders and scout parents interested in getting more involved in Scouting are invited to attend the Narcoossee District Roundtable, which is typically be held on the third Thursday of every month at Center Point Community Church<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> (<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>9580 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL 32825<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>). <\/span><\/span><\/span>Doors open for gathering at 6:30pm, and opening flag is at 7pm. Roundtable is a great way for Scout leaders to share ideas, network and get information about our Council and District. Ideally, every unit should try to have at least one leader attend every month so that you can take what you learn to your Units!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Online Training Opportunities. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>Here is how to get caught up with online training
\u2022 Take the online course for your registered position via <\/span><\/span><\/span>https:\/\/my.scouting.org\/<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>. Remember that if you change positions, you need to register for the new role and take the training for that role to be considered \u201cTRAINED.\u201d Visit <\/span><\/span><\/span>my.scouting.org<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> for all your online training needs!
\u2022 Every leader must be current with the new Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT). SYT must be renewed every year. A 20-minute refresher SYT course is available for persons who already completed the 90-minute SYT course and renew their training before expiration. The 20-minute refresher option goes away if SYT is expired for more than 1-week, and the 90-minute course must be repeated. Don\u2019t let it expire!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In-Person Training Opportunities<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>. Trainings offered via online courses are also sometimes offered as in-person trainings. There are other courses (e.g., BALOO, IOLS, etc.) that are ONLY offered in-person. You may attend trainings hosted by Narcoossee District or any of the other Districts in the Central Florida Council. 1. The Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook was last updated in February 2023. Please make sure you are using the 2023A version when you submit your workbook for district review. The 2023A version of the Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook PDF can be downloaded from the National website at:
https:\/\/www.scouting.org\/programs\/scouts-bsa\/advancement-and-awards\/eagle-scout-workbook\/<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2. Within the Project Proposal, the District Information requested on Page B should be entered as: <\/span><\/span><\/span>Narcoossee Eagle Chair; (407) 889-4403; 1951 S Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka, FL 32703; <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>narcoosseeadvancement@gmail.com<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3. Life scouts who are ready for their Eagle Project Workbook review and District approvals have the option of personally meeting with a District Advancement team member by appointment. The Life Scout can still opt to submit and receive feedback electronically, if preferred. But in some cases, a short in-person meeting will still be needed for signatures. <\/span><\/span><\/span>Electronic proposal submissions should be sent to <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>narcoosseeadvancement@gmail.com<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4. 5. The Council has a new online tool for Eagle Rank Applications, which eliminates the need to mail paperwork until after the BOR is completed and provides support for completing the application and real-time tracking of status. \u00a0The tool and instructions for use are available at<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>http:\/\/eagleapp.cflscouting.org\/<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

6. To schedule an Eagle Board of Review (EBOR) with the district, a unit representative or the Eagle Candidate should send a request to the district advancement team at narcoosseeadvancement@gmail.com<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>. The request should identify possible available dates for the EBOR, and if known, provide a location and preferred time. <\/span><\/span>A Scout may make this request, but must have coordinated with and cc their Unit Advancement Chair when doing so. When requesting, please allow for enough time to obtain reference letters, and provide multiple dates to aid in ease of scheduling. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
