Our Narcoossee District units collected more than 77,000\u00a0pounds of food from our generous communities!\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Orange County collections went to Second Harvest Food Bank. In Osceola County, scouting units partnered with the school district and other local volunteers to use food donations in Thanksgiving baskets for Osceola families. Learn more\u00a0in this article from the Osceola News Gazette<\/a>\u00a0and<\/span> this report from Spectrum News 13<\/a>.<\/p>\n Heartfelt thanks to our Narcoossee District SFF chair Sonia Tzabery, and the SFF leads in Osceola County\u2014Art Polnasek and Greg Filak. If you haven’t already, please be sure to record your unit’s service hours for SFF and other service in Scoutbook (instructions here<\/a>).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n The Narcoossee Cub Scout Family Campout was a huge success! Eight units from District\u00a0attended and took part in the festivities. The Cubs enjoyed rain gutter regatta\u00a0races, Orienteering\u00a0course, hiking, fishing, crafts, and dessert contest. The night was capped off with an amazing campfire and flag retirement ceremony. A huge thank you to Troop 192<\/strong> for support during the campout. They built a monkey bridge, hosted fireman chit and totin chit classes for AOLs, put on an amazing flag retirement ceremony\u00a0during campfire, and shared their gear. Thank you also to the lead event organizer Josh Lueck<\/strong> for providing an amazing experience for our cubs.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Popcorn 2025 has come to a close. Narcoossee District had an excellent season this year, with 25 units selling and $180,387 in sales. \u00a0So many Scouting adventures will be powered by popcorn! Thirty-two Scouts earned their way into the top sellers party. Pack 125<\/strong> finished strong in 1st place for the units and and Benjamin A<\/strong> in 1st place for the Scouts! And last but certainly not least, BIG thanks to Jillian Davis<\/strong> for serving as the Narcoossee District Popcorn Kernel!\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n This is the second year the process for individual membership renewals is separated from the process for unit renewal (annual unit recharter). Under the current renewal process, individual youth and adult BSA memberships are set on a 12 month term with renewal each year in the month of initial join. Most legacy scouts and Scouters who have been registered with BSA for more than two years will have their membership renewal come due in December (now!).<\/span><\/p>\n Youth & Adult Individual Membership Renewals:\u00a0<\/strong>Unit rosters in My.Scouting.org list the membership expiration date for each youth and adult in the unit. Unit leadership can assist unit youth and adults with knowing WHEN their membership is due for renewal and how to go about renewing their individu<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>al memberships. National BSA has created resources with step-by-step instructions for (1)<\/span> <\/span>Units renewing their members<\/span><\/a>, (2)<\/span> Parent renewing their youth’s membership<\/span><\/a>, and (3)<\/span> Adults renewing their own membership<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Unit Renewals:\u00a0<\/strong>It is time for Key 3 Leaders of Packs, Troops, Crews, and Ships to complete unit renewals (process formerly called annual recharter). Here are step-by-step <\/span>instructions provided by Scouting America<\/span><\/a><\/span> and also a <\/span>helpful instructional created by our DE George Gagel<\/span><\/a> <\/span><\/span>that includes some FAQs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Safeguarding Youth<\/strong> training is Scouting America’s updated youth protection training (replaces YPT) and a joining requirement for new Scouters. Existing adult leaders must complete the Safeguarding Youth training before their YPT training expires. If a volunteer\u2019s Safeguarding Youth training (or legacy YPT) is not current at the time of annual unit renewal, the volunteer will not be re-registered. Safeguarding Youth training is available online through\u00a0My.Scouting.org<\/a>\u00a0and is valid for one year.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Hazardous Weather<\/strong> training is mandatory training for all contact leaders (i.e., Cubmaster and Assistants, Den Leaders and Assistants, Scoutmasters and Assistants, Crew Advisor) and recommended for all adults who attend outdoor events with scouts. Hazardous Weather training is available online through\u00a0My.Scouting.org<\/a>\u00a0and is valid for two years.\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Narcoossee District would like to host a District-level Pinewood Derby in the Spring. A District Derby gives our cub scouts an extra opportunity to race the cars they have worked so hard to design. And in past years, older scouts and adults have been allowed to race too! Please consider if you or your unit can help with one or both of the following needs:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \tLoan a Pinewood Derby track with at least 4 lanes<\/span><\/span><\/span> The tentative date on the district calendar is March 1st. But that date can be adjusted, if needed, to make the event happen. This event will be held in the hour before Round Table at Center Pointe Community Church (9580 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL). If you have a prospective Scouter or individual please share with Kathy Vickroy.\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n We would like to invite you to the Narcoossee District Roundtable, which is\u00a0typically be held on the third\u00a0Thursday of every month at Center\u00a0Point Community Church<\/span> (9580 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL 32825<\/a>).\u00a0Doors open for gathering at\u00a06:30pm, and opening flag is at\u00a07pm. Roundtable is a great way for Scout leaders to share ideas, network and get information about our Council and District. Ideally, every unit should try to have at least one leader attend every month so that you can take what you learn to your Units!<\/span><\/p>\n This month’s\u00a0December\u00a0Roundtable\u00a0<\/strong>will be held on the SECOND Thursday of December,\u00a0Thursday 12\/11\/25,\u00a0<\/strong>so it has a bit more separation from the school holiday break. Program breakout groups will be offered for Cub Scout leaders and Scouts BSA\/Venturing leaders.\u00a0<\/p>\n If you have any announcements or messages you would like to present or convey at Roundtable, please contact Ruth Currey<\/span>\u00a0at\u00a0rhcwoodbadge@gmail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Narcoossee District is hosting <\/span><\/span><\/span>Webelos Woods<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span> at Camp La-No-Che on the weekend of January 16-18, 2026.\u00a0This campout, designed specifically for Webelos and Arrow of Light cub scouts, features friendly competitions in individual events and patrol\/pack events, including a Lash Box Derby Car race for patrols that build a car. In the evening, patrols will perform Campfire Skits and participate in an amazing flag retirement ceremony led by Crew 911.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n This event is covered by the Council Program fee, so there is\u00a0no charge\u00a0for attending.
