Our Narcoossee District units collected more than 77,000\u00a0pounds of food from our generous communities!\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Orange County collections went to Second Harvest Food Bank. In Osceola County, scouting units partnered with the school district and other local volunteers to use food donations in Thanksgiving baskets for Osceola families. Eight units from District\u00a0attended and took part in the festivities. The Cubs enjoyed rain gutter regatta\u00a0races, Orienteering\u00a0course, hiking, fishing, crafts, and dessert contest. The night was capped off with an amazing campfire and flag retirement ceremony. A huge thank you to <strong>Troop 192<\/strong> for support during the campout. They built a monkey bridge, hosted fireman chit and totin chit classes for AOLs, put on an amazing flag retirement ceremony\u00a0during campfire, and shared their gear. Thank you also to the lead event organizer <strong>Josh Lueck<\/strong> for providing an amazing experience for our cubs.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>                            <span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&lt;!&#8211;            <\/p>\n<p>&#8211;&gt;<\/p>\n<p>              \t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<div><span><span><span><strong>Popcorn 2025 in Review<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>                        <span><span><span>Popcorn 2025 has come to a close. Narcoossee District had an excellent season this year, with 25 units selling and $180,387 in sales. \u00a0So many Scouting adventures will be powered by popcorn! Thirty-two Scouts earned their way into the top sellers party. <strong>Pack 125<\/strong> finished strong in 1st place for the units and and <strong>Benjamin A<\/strong> in 1st place for the Scouts! And last but certainly not least, BIG thanks to J<strong>illian Davis<\/strong> for serving as the Narcoossee District Popcorn Kernel!\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>                            <span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&lt;!&#8211;            <\/p>\n<p>&#8211;&gt;<\/p>\n<p>              \t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<div><span><span><span><strong>Individual Membership &amp; Unit Renewals\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>            <span>This is the second year the process for individual membership renewals is separated from the process for unit renewal (annual unit recharter). Under the current renewal process, individual youth and adult BSA memberships are set on a 12 month term with renewal each year in the month of initial join. Most legacy scouts and Scouters who have been registered with BSA for more than two years will have their membership renewal come due in December (now!).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Youth &amp; Adult Individual Membership Renewals:\u00a0<\/strong><span><span>Unit rosters in My.Scouting.org list the membership expiration date for each youth and adult in the unit. Unit leadership can assist unit youth and adults<span> with knowing WHEN their membership is due for renewal and how to go about renewing their individu<\/span><\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span><span><span>al memberships. National BSA has created resources with step-by-step instructions for (1)<\/span><span> <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/12VIF0U0c2P-Fkc_i9JCkCGStOKflcszs\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Units renewing their members<\/span><\/a>, <span>(2)<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1bn_L16nVxhTJXmMmmlBRD0YrAA0BGmUx\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Parent renewing their youth&#8217;s membership<\/span><\/a>, <span>and (3)<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1RnFCNVMO37OsWG4UG7mgvsPbkAOljMV-\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>Adults renewing their own membership<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Unit Renewals:\u00a0<\/strong><span>It is time for Key 3 Leaders of Packs, Troops, Crews, and Ships to complete unit renewals (process formerly called annual recharter). Here are step-by-step <\/span><span><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1i7qLS2eS4DWoQJG_xiVRp_fdKe90BG6F\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>instructions provided by Scouting America<\/span><\/a><\/span><span> and also a <\/span><span><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1zi-E-COK2nyCqW2h8DTufzXKguZVmPlO\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>helpful instructional created by our DE George Gagel<\/span><\/a><span> <\/span><\/span><span>that includes some FAQs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>                            <span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&lt;!&#8211;            <\/p>\n<p>&#8211;&gt;<\/p>\n<p>              \t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<div><span><strong><span>Training Spotlight:<br \/>\nSafeguarding Youth &amp; Hazardous Weather<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>            <span><span><span><strong>Safeguarding Youth<\/strong> training is Scouting America&#8217;s updated youth protection training (replaces YPT) and a joining requirement for new Scouters. Existing adult leaders must complete the Safeguarding Youth training before their YPT training expires. If a volunteer\u2019s Safeguarding Youth training (or legacy YPT) is not current at the time of annual unit renewal, the volunteer will not be re-registered. Safeguarding Youth training is available online through\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/my.scouting.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">My.Scouting.org<\/a>\u00a0and is valid for one year.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hazardous Weather<\/strong> training is mandatory training for all contact leaders (i.e., Cubmaster and Assistants, Den Leaders and Assistants, Scoutmasters and Assistants, Crew Advisor) and recommended for all adults who attend outdoor events with scouts. Hazardous Weather training is available online through\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/my.scouting.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">My.Scouting.org<\/a>\u00a0and is valid for two years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>                            <span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&lt;!&#8211;            <\/p>\n<p>&#8211;&gt;<\/p>\n<p>              \t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<div><span><span><span><strong>Seeking Derby Track &amp; Event Lead<br \/>\nfor District Pinewood Derby<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<!--[if mso]&gt;--><\/p>\n<p>            <span><span><span>Narcoossee District would like to host a District-level Pinewood Derby in the Spring. A District Derby gives our cub scouts an extra opportunity to race the cars they have worked so hard to design. And in past years, older scouts and adults have been allowed to race too! Please consider if you or your unit can help with one or both of the following needs:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\t<span><span><span>Loan a Pinewood Derby track with at least 4 lanes<\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n\t<span><span><span>Serve as the event lead or host pack<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>The tentative date on the district calendar is March 1st. But that date can be adjusted, if needed, to make the event happen.
