George was born and raised in Statesboro GA, where he earned his Eagle Scout rank and a degree in Outdoor Recreation from Georgia Southern University. From the mountains of California and North Carolina to the tropics of Costa Rica, George has enjoyed several years of working as an outdoor educator. George is incredibly excited to take this leap into professional Scouting and looks forward to working with the District.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Many thanks to Aaron Sherman and Troop 617 for putting on an amazing District Camporee in December 2024.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n The process for individual membership renewals is now separated from the process for unit renewal.<\/span>\u00a0Individual youth and adult BSA memberships are now a set 12 month term from the time of registering regardless of when the unit renews. Rather than renewing memberships through the unit recharter process, individual families are receiving email notification with instructions to renew the individual memberships of Scouts and Scouters.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n How can units assist families in transitioning to the new Individual Renewal process? <\/strong>Unit rosters in My.Scouting.org list the membership expiration date for each youth and adult in the unit. Unit leadership can assist unit youth and adults with knowing WHEN their membership is due for renewal and how to go about renewing their individual memberships. National BSA has created resources with step-by-step instructions for (1) Units renewing their members, (2) Parent renewing their youth’s membership, and (3) Adults renewing their own membership. Check out the amazing discounts on this year’s Camp Card (displayed above)! Camp Card Kickoffs were held in December, and units have placed their orders. The Camp Card ‘Counting Day’ is coming up at the Council Office on Monday, January 13th, 9am\u20143pm. Signup to volunteer for Counting Day, and you can pickup your unit’s cards that afternoon! Spread cups (enough so that there are at least 2 cups per player) randomly around the play area. When the game starts, one team tries to turn the cups so that they are right-side up, and the other team tries to turn as many cups as they can face-down. Set a time limit and when time’s up everyone stops and counts up how many cups their team has turned. Roundtable is a great way for Scout leaders to share ideas, network and get information about our Council and District. Ideally, every unit should try to have at least one leader attend every month so that you can take what you learn to your Units!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n This month’s\u00a0December\u00a0Roundtable\u00a0<\/strong>will be held on Thursday 1\/16\/25.\u00a0<\/strong>Program breakout groups will be offered for Cub Scout leaders and Scouts BSA\/Venturing leaders.\u00a0<\/p>\n If you have any announcements or messages you would like to present or convey at Roundtable, please contact Mike Hockman, Roundtable Chair, at<\/span>\u00a0mikehockman1@gmail.com<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n There are an unprecedented number of Scouts and Adults ALREADY registered for the Narcoossee District <\/span><\/span><\/span>Webelos Woods<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> event on January 17-19! If you know Webelos or AOL scouts, let them know that they don’t want to miss this event! During the day, scouts will participate in individual competitions, and team competitions, including a lash box derby (for units that bring a derby car to race). In the evening, patrols will present songs and skits at campfire, and Crew 911 will lead a flag retirement demonstrating multiple methods. This cost of this event is covered by the Council Program Fee (so no additional cost). \nNarcoossee District had an outstanding year of Eagle Scout accomplishments in 2024, with 77 scouts earning the Eagle rank. This represents 13,868 service hours to our community with an estimated value of over $259,000. Congratulations to all of the scouts who earned the Eagle rank in 2024!<\/span><\/p>\n
\n\tNorthern Narcoossee (former Colonial) Eagle Board of Reviews (EBoRs) will be led by a team of volunteers rather than a single individual.\u00a0Southern Narcoossee (former Osceola) EBoRs will be handled as they are now.\u00a0Scheduling EBoRs will be similar to the current approach, using the contact information provided by Council after application verification.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
