Latest news and updates from the Narcoossee District of Central Florida Council BSA.<\/span><!–<\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n View this email in your browser<\/a> \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Warm congratulations to scouts in the Narcoossee District who have\u00a0earned<\/span>\u00a0the Eagle rank in the last month!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Jacob George Pearson, Troop 125<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n BeAScout.org\u00a0<\/a>is an important tool for prospective scouting families and scouts moving into the area to find units near them.\u00a0 A recent review of Narcoossee units found that many have outdated information, but this can easily be corrected by the Unit Key 3 (Cubmaster\/Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, Chartered Org Rep)!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0To change your unit’s BeAScout information, a Key 3 registered leader in your unit must log in to\u00a0my.scouting.org<\/a>, and enter Organization Manager under the menu.\u00a0 Click “Unit Pin” to change the information.\u00a0 Make sure your “Additional Unit Information” description includes your unit’s meeting day, time, and location, and that “Appear on BeAScout” is selected.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0More information on the Pin tool and process is available here:\u00a0https:\/\/blog.scoutingmagazine.org\/2023\/07\/19\/nows-a-good-time-to-make-sure-your-beascout-pin-is-up-to-date\/<\/a><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Scouts BSA Troops are invited to host a table at ‘Meet Your Local Troops\u2019\u00a0night at the October Round Table Meeting to promote your unit to participating Webelos and AOL families. This event grew out of a desire from Webelos\/AOL scouts nearing ‘crossover’ time to have a way to interact with a wider range of Scouts BSA troops in the area beyond their traditional feeder troop(s). October RT is on 10\/17\/24 at Center Pointe Church, setup starting at 6:30pm, with the open Meet and Greet starting around 7:15pm.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Please register your Scouts BSA Troop to host a table by emailing Mike Hockman at\u00a0<\/span>mikehockman1@gmail.com<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Looking for a quick and easy craft idea for a recruitment event or meeting?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Scouts can use a leather strip and pony beads to make an Oath Bracelet<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> symbolizing elements of the Scout Oath.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Or try this easy-to-make Pool Noodle Pom-Pom Shooter,<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0which is sure to be a scout favorite!\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Check out\u00a0Amy Lester’s instructions<\/a> for making both of these crafts.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Narcoossee District\u00a0<\/strong> Central Florida Council\u00a0<\/strong> Order of the Arrow\/OA Lodge<\/strong> \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Narcoossee District will NOT be hosting Webelos Woods or a Scouts BSA Spring Camporee in winter\/spring 2025, as the resources typically allocated for these events have been allocated to the Central Florida Council Camporee scheduled February 7-9, 2025. All units\u2014Cub Packs, Scouts BSA Troops, Venturing Crews, Sea Scout Ships\u2014are strongly encouraging to make plans to attend the Council Camporee!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Linked here is the most up-to-date version of the Narcoossee District Calendar May 2024 – May 20<\/span><\/a>25<\/span><\/a>, that reflects the most up-to-date listing of major district and council events. \u00a0<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Zoom Meeting Join Link:\u00a0https:\/\/stetson-edu.zoom.us\/j\/91534243391<\/a> The District Committee Meeting\u00a0is attended primarily by District Committee Members, BUT it is an open meeting and all district members are welcome. If you are interested in getting involved in\u00a0the administration of the district, contact the Narcoossee District Chair, Ron Randolph, at\u00a0Ron@RonRandolph.com<\/a>.<\/p><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n We would like to invite you to the Narcoossee District Roundtable, which will\u00a0typically be held on the third\u00a0Thursday of every month at Centre Point Community Church (9580 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL 32825<\/a>).\u00a0Doors open for gathering at\u00a06:30pm, and opening flag is at\u00a07pm. Roundtable is a great way for Scout leaders to share ideas, network and get information about our Council and District. Ideally, every unit should try to have at least one leader attend every month so that you can take what you learn to your Units!<\/span><\/p>\n This month’s September Roundtable\u00a0<\/strong>will be held on\u00a0Thursday, 9\/19\/24<\/strong>. Program breakout groups will be offered for Cub Scout leaders and Scouts BSA\/Venturing\/Sea Scout leaders.<\/p>\n Looking ahead, October Round Table on 10\/17 will be ‘Meet the Troops’ night. Troops who wish to host a table should email Mike Hockman. Cub packs are encouraged to make plans for their AOL scouts to come out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n November Round Table on 11\/21 will be\u00a0\u201cCulture Night. \u201c Pick a country to represent and share that culture and maybe some food in the spirt of Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n If you have any announcements or messages you would like to present or convey at Roundtable, please contact Mike Hockman, Roundtable Chair, at\u00a0mikehockman1@gmail.com<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Safety Day with the Osceola Sheriff’s Department \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Cub Scout Pack 125 is hosting a Safety Day event with the Osceola Sherriff’s Department on September 14th, 11am – 3pm. This event is taking place concurrently with a charity car show. The Car Show and the Safety Day activities are free, and food will be available for purchase. Last year, the Scouts in attendance were able to sit in the Police Helicopter, sit on their motorcycles, climb in their riot tanks, fire trucks, ambulances, and even police boats. It was very cool for the kids. This year there will be stations for requirement, as listed in the flyer.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Individual registration is not required, but Pack\u00a0Leaders are requested to RSVP an estimated number of attendees by August 24th. Parents and siblings are welcome to join, though the Scouts will be the ones participating in the activities. The event will cover a range of topics suitable for all ranks from Tigers to AOLs, in addition to the exhibits on display. This is a fantastic opportunity for Cub Scouts and their families to enjoy a day filled with fun and adventure, including shooting sports, bottle rockets, crafts, a bounce house sponsored by Rent a Jumper!\u00a0<\/span>(<\/span><\/span>https:\/\/bit.ly\/rentajumper<\/a>),<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>and more.\u00a0We will also have Food and Beverages available – sponsored by Pack 175 – available for purchase.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The cost of this event is covered by the Central Florida Council Program fee. So there is no additional fee, but registration is requested. Registration will open this week through the Central Florida Council BSA calendar.\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n BALOO Training for Cub Scout Leaders \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Narcoossee District is hosting BALOO training at Moss Park November 16-17, 2024\u00a0<\/strong>with\u00a0<\/strong>Friday camping (before the training) available.\u00a0BALOO stands for Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation. It\u2019s designed to introduce Cub Scout leaders to BSA policies, skills, and ideas for planning and implementing a pack overnighter.The BSA requires that Cub Scout units have\u00a0at least one BALOO-trained adult on every Cub Scout den or pack overnight outdoor event.
