We wish you well as you CHART NEW ADVENTURES working your goals. We are excited to see the amazing things you are going to accomplish!\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n The 2023 Scouting for Food (SFF) service project is ramping up and your unit’s participation and efforts are key to making this important service\u00a0project successful.\u00a0Scouting for Food is the nation\u2019s largest single-day food drive and an opportunity for Scouts to make a significant impact in our community by helping local families.\u00a0 Last year, Central Florida Council was able to provide more than 50,000 meals through Second Harvest Foodbank! Our District goal this year is to collect\u00a050,000\u00a0pounds\u00a0of food.\u00a0<\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n We are gearing up for the\u00a0largest single-day training event in the Central Florida Council\u2014<\/span><\/span><\/span>University of Scouting<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>, scheduled January 27, 2024. \u00a0Please help our preparations by\u00a0<\/span>filling out <\/span>this\u00a0<\/span><\/a><\/strong>survey<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0by October 10th.\u00a0<\/strong>Don’t delay, fill it out today!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Our goal is to have an outstanding day, but we cannot do it alone. We need\u00a0\u00a0recommendations on Vendors to invite to share their opportunities with you. Our midway grows with your suggestions!<\/p>\n Our goal is to have program-changing courses for leaders of Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Explorers to enjoy, but we cannot do it alone. We are calling upon Scouters who have taught in the past to share your valuable knowledge. There are a lot of new Scouters that can benefit from your wisdom. We are also calling on Scouters who haven\u2019t taught before to offer your talents to teach a course and offer a fresh perspective.\u00a0<\/p>\n Our final goal is for the youth to have courses to take, but to do so, we are in need of scouters that have the ability to offer a one of a kind memorable courses. We want the youth to immediately benefit from their everyday scouting lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n We want to surprise the youth and Scouters with Venture Crew, Sea Scout and Explorer courses, however we need to have the subject matter experts in hiding to help make these courses come to life.<\/p>\n Thank you for your assistance on this outstanding day of learning as we celebrate scouts together. Our University Cabinet will be reviewing all the filled out\u00a0surveys\u00a0to help put together and connect with all the Instructors. Please contact my email below if you have any questions. We need your gifts, connections, and you to help teach a course! If your troop is hosting an event for AOL scouts, consider getting the word out by posting information on the Colonial District Facebook group and by providing us with information to share in the District Newsletter. Thanks!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <!– <\/p>\n –><\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Effective September 1, 2023<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/em>Two registered adult leaders 21 years of age or over are required at all Scouting activities, including\u00a0all meetings. There must be a registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over in every unit serving females. A registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over must be present for any activity involving female youth or female adult program participants.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Notwithstanding the minimum leader requirements, age and program-appropriate supervision must always be provided.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n All adults staying overnight in connection with a Scouting activity must be currently registered as an adult volunteer or an adult program participant.\u00a0\u00a0Adult volunteers must register in the position(s) they are serving in.\u00a0Registration as a merit badge counselor position does not meet this requirement. \u00a0Limited exception below for Cub Scout overnight Programs<\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Cub Scout\u00a0<\/em>Programs \u2013 Overnight\u00a0<\/em>Exception:<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0 Cub Scout parents or legal guardians taking part\u00a0in an overnight Cub Scout program\u00a0with their own child or legal ward are not required to register as leaders. All adults must review the \u201c<\/span>How to Protect your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent\u2019s Guide<\/span><\/a>\u201d that can be found in the front of each Cub Scout Handbook. Roundtable is a great way for Scout leaders to share ideas, network and get information about our Council and District. Ideally, every unit in our Council should try to have at least one leader attend every month so that you can take what you learn to your Units!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n This month’s October\u00a0<\/span>Roundtable\u00a0<\/strong>will be held on Thursday 10\/19\/23\u00a0<\/strong>and will feature our\u00a0<\/strong>Annual ‘Meet the\u00a0Troops’<\/strong> night.\u00a0This is an opportunity for Webelos and AOL scouts to come and\u00a0meet representatives of\u00a0Scouts BSA Troops in attendance. \n— November 4: \u00a0Your unit will distribute the SFF bags to residences in your assigned area.\u00a0 Also consider asking your chartered organization, local businesses, apartment complexes, etc. if your unit could place a food collection box at their location.
\n— November 11: \u00a0Your unit will canvas your assigned area to collect SFF food donations and deliver\/report donations at a district collection site. \u00a0District collection site locations are on the map and will be at Second Harvest Food Bank and STU Import\/Export (* aka The Popcorn Warehouse *). Volunteers will be needed at the collection sites.\u00a0
